Sara Hoque

I am a sucker for pretty colors. If you’re like me, look no further than the bright, beautiful, otherworldly landscapes of London based Sara Hoque. Hoque’s work is influenced by movement and connection to nature, as well as her Norwegian/British/Bengali heritage. Her multicultural roots fostered a love of travel and nomadic ways, perhaps contributing to her living on a narrowboat (check our her art boat renovation).Hoque earned her BA in Fine Art from Kingston University and has has solo shows with Sublime Encounters, and Neon Cosmos.

Hoque explains:

My work explores the essence of the natural world. Moments in time inspired by my life aboard a narrowboat, where I have a deep connection to the places I encounter daily. Each painting becomes a snapshot of these ever-changing landscapes. Through amplified colours and abstract motifs, I aim to evoke a sense of awe, echoing the childlike wonder we often lose as we grow older.

These experiences have been distilled into landscapes where time feels suspended, yet filled with a quiet sense of motion and life. Created to evoke a deep sense of presence, inviting you to pause and appreciate the raw beauty and majesty of Mother Nature.

The sublime is often described as the strongest feeling the mind is capable of feeling; something that is experienced outside of our conscious mind and is rooted in our relationship to the world. The sublime encourages us to feel ourselves in relationship to something larger than us.
